ABOUT US

We are a general endocrinology clinic and have been serving the Tallahassee, Florida area for more than 20 years. Each of our three providers has more than 20 years of experience in treating endocrine disorders. We pride ourselves on providing quality, comprehensive care. 

We treat patients with the entire spectrum of endocrine disorders - diabetes mellitus, hypertension, lipid disorders, obesity, disorders of the thyroid function, thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer, metabollic bone disease, reproductive disorders, parathyroid disease and other disorders of calcium metabolism, and pituitary disorders. Many of our patients have complex combinations of these and we manage each. We believe that this holistic approach yields the best clinical outcome.

Our mission is to better the health of our community by providing superior medical care with a focus in endocrinology.  We will care for our patients in a respectful manner and with the recognition that health is not merely the absence of disease but encompasses the full physical, mental and spiritual well being of the individual.

Our Team

DR. CELESTE B. HART

Dr. Celeste B. Hart is a Tallahassee native. She received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from Princeton University and the MD degree from Howard University College of Medicine (HUCM).  Her subspecialty training in endocrinology was at the National Institutes of Health where she matriculated in the Diabetes Branch.

She served on the faculty at HUCM from 1986-1991 as graduate assistant professor of physiology and director of the Endocrinology Research Laboratory.  

In 1991 she began her practice here in Tallahassee where she also serves as a co-medical director of the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Diabetes Center.

She is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American Thyroid Association and the American Diabetes Association.  She also serves on the Florida Diabetes Advisory Council.

She enjoys mentoring pre medical students and is currently clinical coordinator for the Florida Alliance Scholars program which provides summer  clinical research opportunities for undergraduate students.

She is the proud mother of a son, Adam.


Dr. Luz Prieto-SanchezDR. LUZ PRIETO-SANCHEZ

Dr. Luz Prieto-Sanchez was born in Colombia, received her Medical degree from The Pontifical-Xaveriana University in Bogota. She completed training in Internal Medicine in Colombia in 1981 and an Endocrinology fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida. She joined the University of Miami- Diabetes Research Institute in 2001 working as a faculty member with the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Division until 2011 when she relocated to Tallahassee to begin private practice at North Florida Regional Thyroid Center.

As a faculty member of  the Miller School of Medicine she served as director of the Endocrine Clinic at Jackson Memorial Hospital 2007-2011 and Director of In-patient Glycemic Control Program.  Dr Prieto is a frequent lecturer and has participated in mentoring residents and fellows during her career.

Dr. Prieto-Sanchez is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.


Robin ByrdROBIN BYRD

Robin Byrd is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner who received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Florida A & M University (FAMU).   She earned a Master’s Degree in Family Health Nursing from Florida State University.  She is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and a Certified Nurse Practitioner in Advanced Diabetes Management.

She  has worked in various roles as a professional registered nurse with experience in inpatient diabetes management, inpatient psychiatric care, and oncology.  She has also served as an adjunct faculty member for the Florida A & M University school of nursing.

In 2002, she began her career as  a nurse practitioner with the North Florida Regional Thyroid Center.

She is a board member of the Florida A & M University school  of nursing and is member of the local Advanced Practice Council of nurse practitioners.

She is the proud mother of a son, Austin.

You may contact our office number 24 hours a day. After hours, please call the main number and wait for instructions for non-emergency calls. If you have a life threatening medical emergency, call 911.

For medical questions and problems that cannot wait until the next business day, please listen to the message in its entirety for call back instructions. Weekend calls are forwarded to the on call physician.

Please Call Us

If your diabetes control has deteriorated suddenly such that frequent high or low blood sugar is a problem.
